INTENSITY LEVEL

A lot of confusion often surrounds the topic of coffee “intensity levels,” so let us clear that up for you. Simply put, intensity refers to the richness and boldness of the coffee’s aroma and flavor once it’s brewed - not its caffeine content. Just like fine wine and chocolate, every coffee’s unique character starts at the plantation. Soil, climate, altitude, and terrain all play a huge role. Then come the harvesting, storage, roasting, and production methods - each one equally important in creating the final cup you enjoy. Here at Cafe Copium, we're obsessed with perfection. That’s why both of our signature brands - Cafés De Cuba and Cocaina Cubana - are crafted with distinctive profiles and sit in the bold intensity range of 9 -12. Expect rich, powerful aromas and tasting notes that are smooth, full-bodied, low in acidity, and sometimes accented with a pleasant hint of bitterness. The result? A coffee experience that truly packs power and punch. They’re fantastic as straight espresso, but they become even more magical when paired with regular or plant-based milk - creating the perfect cup every time.

Rule of thumb and use:

Arabica = quality & nuance (most specialty coffee).
Robusta = strength & kick (great for a powerful espresso or budget blends).
That’s why many people love a 80/20 Arabica-Robusta mix - you get the best of both worlds!
